No If you currently live outside Israel.
Will living abroad affect my application?
No. Applicants can apply from abroad.
Country of Origin
Select the country through which you plan to make Aliyah or the country of citizenship whose documents you will use during the Aliyah process.
Which country should I choose if I have lived in several countries?
If you have moved between countries, choose the country associated with the documents you are using for Aliyah.
Example:
If you currently live in Serbia but hold Russian citizenship and plan to make Aliyah using your Russian documents, select Russia, not Serbia.
Similarly, if you live temporarily in another country for work, studies, or relocation purposes, choose the country connected to your citizenship and Aliyah application.
My country is not listed
If your country does not appear in the list, select Other and enter it manually.
Note: This question helps us understand your Aliyah background and administrative status. It does not affect your chances of admission.
Academic Interests
Choose the Technion faculties that interest you most and that you may want to study after completing the Mechina program.
You do not need to be 100% certain at this stage. The purpose of this question is to understand your academic interests and long-term goals.
Important: The Anières Mechina Program Supports Specific Faculties Only
The Anières Mechina Program is designed for students who plan to pursue studies in the following technical and engineering fields:
Computer Science
Software Engineering
Aerospace Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Information Systems Engineering
Chemical and Biochemical Engineering
Biomedical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Data Science Engineering
Biotechnology and Food Engineering
Materials Science and Engineering
These are the faculties supported by the program.
What if I am interested in another faculty?
If your primary goal is to study a non-supported faculty, you should carefully consider whether this program is the right fit for you. Many other faculties at Technion and other Israeli universities have their own support programs, scholarships, and preparation tracks designed specifically for those fields.
Why are only these faculties supported?
The Anières Mechina Program was created specifically to prepare students for engineering and technology studies.
The academic preparation includes a strong focus on:
Mathematics
Physics
Scientific thinking
Technical problem-solving skills
These subjects are essential for success in engineering programs but may be less relevant for students planning to study fields such as humanities, social sciences, law, design, or other non-technical disciplines.
Can I change my mind later?
Yes.
You should select the faculties that seem most interesting to you today. However, many students refine their academic interests during the Mechina year.
As long as you remain within the list of supported faculties, it is often possible to adjust your academic direction and apply to a different supported faculty later in the process.
How should I choose?
Ask yourself:
Which subjects do I enjoy most?
Do I see myself working in a technical or engineering profession?
Which of the supported faculties best matches my interests and strengths?
It is perfectly normal not to have all the answers yet. The Mechina year is designed not only to prepare you academically but also to help you make a more informed decision about your future studies.
Family Income Information

The Anières Mechina Program offers scholarships to eligible students based on both academic and financial criteria. The information in this section helps us understand your family's financial situation and determine whether you may qualify for financial assistance.
Monthly Income per Family
What is the combined monthly income of your parents if you live with them? Please specify the currency.
Enter the approximate combined monthly income of your household.
You do not need to calculate the exact amount down to the last dollar, euro, or shekel. A reasonable estimate is sufficient at the application stage.
Example
2,500 USD per month
4,000 EUR per month
12,000 ILS per month
Important: please answer honestly.
There is no advantage in intentionally understating or overstating your family's income. If your application progresses to the next stage, the financial information provided in the form will be verified through supporting documents.
How Is Scholarship Eligibility Determined?
Scholarships are available to students whose family income falls below a certain threshold. The exact threshold is not published publicly. This policy helps ensure a fair evaluation process and prevents situations where applicants may feel pressured to adjust financial information to meet a specific number. Each application is reviewed individually.
What Happens If My Family Income Is Above the Scholarship Threshold?
You may still be accepted to the Anières Mechina Program.
A higher family income does not automatically disqualify you from participating in the program. However, students whose family income exceeds the scholarship eligibility threshold may be admitted without receiving financial assistance.
What Documents Will Be Required Later?
If your application is approved, you may be asked to provide financial documentation for both parents (or legal guardians). Typically, this includes proof of income for the most recent three months, such as:
Salary slips or pay stubs
Employer income statements
Tax documentation
Self-employment income records
Other official proof of income
The exact requirements may vary depending on your country of residence and employment situation.
How Many Family Members Live in Your Household?
Include all people who are financially supported by the household income, including:
Parents
Children
Other dependent family members living in the household
This information helps us better understand the financial circumstances of each applicant.
Example
If you live with two parents and two siblings, the household size is 5 family members. If your family situation is unusual or difficult to describe, simply provide your best estimate. Our team can clarify any details later during the application process.
Aliyah Status
What is your Aliyah status?
This question helps us understand your current legal and immigration status in Israel and determine which admission and support processes may apply to you.
Please select the option that best describes your current situation.
New Immigrant (Oleh Hadash)
Choose this option if you have already completed Aliyah and officially received Israeli immigrant status.
Typically, you have:
A Teudat Oleh (Immigrant Certificate)
An Israeli ID card (Teudat Zehut)
Official recognition as a new immigrant by the State of Israel
Tourist
Choose this option if you are currently in Israel but have not yet completed Aliyah and are staying under a tourist visa or another temporary status.
Returning Resident
Choose this option if you previously lived in Israel, spent a significant period abroad, and are now returning under a Returning Resident (Toshav Hozer) status.
If you are not sure whether this category applies to you, please consult the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration.
In the Process of Making Aliyah
Choose this option if you are currently preparing for Aliyah but have not yet received official immigrant status.
This includes applicants who:
Have opened an Aliyah file with the Jewish Agency
Are collecting documents
Have already been approved for Aliyah but have not yet moved to Israel
Are planning their relocation in the coming months
Other
Choose this option if none of the categories above accurately describe your situation. If necessary, a member of our team will contact you for clarification.
Can I Apply Before Making Aliyah?
Yes. Many students apply while they are still living abroad and complete their Aliyah process later. In fact, a significant number of Anières Mechina participants begin the admission process before arriving in Israel.
I'm Not Sure Which Option to Choose
Don't worry. Select the option that best matches your current situation. If your status changes later (for example, you complete Aliyah after submitting the form), you will be able to update us during the admission process.
Immigration Status
This section helps us understand your eligibility for Aliyah and your current citizenship application status. The information is used only for administrative and eligibility purposes.
Are You a Fourth-Generation Descendant of Jewish Ancestry (According to the Law of Return)?
Choose the answer that best describes your situation.
What does this question mean?
Under Israel's Law of Return, eligibility for Aliyah depends on your family background and relationship to a Jewish ancestor. This question specifically refers to applicants who are fourth-generation descendants of a Jewish ancestor.
I'm not sure if I am a fourth-generation descendant
Many applicants are unfamiliar with the legal terminology.
If you are unsure, choose Other and provide a brief explanation if possible. Our team can help clarify your status later during the admission process.
Why are you asking this?
Different immigration categories may affect eligibility for certain government benefits, student support programs, and administrative procedures. The information helps us better understand your situation and provide accurate guidance.
Are You in the Process of Obtaining Israeli Citizenship?
Choose Yes if you have already started the process of obtaining Israeli citizenship or are actively working through the Aliyah process.
This may include applicants who:
Have opened an Aliyah file with the Jewish Agency
Have submitted documents for Aliyah
Have received preliminary approval
Are preparing for relocation and citizenship procedures
Choose No if:
You have not started the process
You are only considering Aliyah but have not yet begun any formal procedures
Choose Other if:
Your situation does not fit either category or requires additional explanation.
Do I Need Israeli Citizenship Before Applying?
No. Students may apply to the Anières Mechina Program before receiving Israeli citizenship. Many successful applicants begin the admission process while they are still living abroad and complete their Aliyah and citizenship procedures later.
What if my status changes after submitting the application?
That's completely normal. If you receive citizenship, complete Aliyah, or your immigration status changes during the admission process, simply inform the admissions team and your records can be updated.
Military Service Status
What is your IDF service status?
This question helps us understand your current military obligations and plan your academic timeline accordingly. Your answer will not automatically affect your chances of admission. The purpose is simply to understand your current situation and determine the most appropriate path for you.
I Have an Enlistment Date
Choose this option if you have already received an official draft date from the IDF.
I Exceeded the Age of Eligibility for Enlistment
Choose this option if you are no longer required to serve in the IDF due to your age. This situation is common among some older Olim and international applicants.
I Completed Military Service and Have Been Discharged

I Completed a Partial Service in the IDF
Choose this option if you served in the IDF but did not complete a full term of service. There are many legitimate reasons why service may be shortened or completed partially, so simply select this option if it best describes your situation.
Other
Choose this option if none of the categories accurately describe your current status. A member of our team may contact you later if additional clarification is needed.
Can I Apply If I Have Not Served in the IDF Yet?
Yes. Many Anières Mechina students apply before beginning military service, while planning their future academic and Aliyah pathway.
